About Marie
In 1996 as Marie recovered from a crushed bone injury she experienced repeated infections due to a depressed immune system caused by the injury. Medications from traditional western doctors cleared each infection in turn, yet new infections occurred. As that cycle continued over several months Marie’s health degenerated.
Desperate to improve her health, Marie cried out for help from any source. Her cries were answered when she walked into a small café near her new employment. A flyer advertising a HEALING CIRCLE hung partially covered on a community bulletin board. Pushing aside the other announcements, Marie saw the entire heading on the flyer and read REIKI HEALING CIRCLE. HEALING. Yes, healing. She sought healing.
She attended the first available circle, which lead her to the Reiki Center of Annapolis (MD) monthly healing clinic. Attending the next scheduled Reiki clinic, Marie felt immediate health improvements. Rapidly improving health convinced her to learn more about this powerful yet gentle healing method. She attended first-degree Traditional Usui Reiki training in March 1997.
Practicing and honing her skills, by December 2001 Marie completed her training and became a Reiki master teacher. Since that time she has taught Reiki classes in Maryland, North Carolina, New York, and Arizona both alone and in cooperation with other Reiki Masters. A short list of diagnosis Marie experienced prior to finding Reiki healing:
· Cellulitis · Cancer · Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (braces worn) · Depressed Immune System (Repeated Infections) · Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Medication taken for years) · Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (Due to the accident)
Marie now experiences excellent health in body, mind and spirit. In 2000 Marie began practicing hypnosis and completed certification with the National Guild of Hypnotist in 2002. In 2003 she studied hypnosis with Dr. Brian Weiss, renowned author of Many Lives, Many Masters and other books about his extraordinary experiences using hypnosis healing in his psychiatric practice.
In 2001 she began studying with John Perkins founder of Dream Change and author of The New York Times Bestseller Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. During that training she studied with indigenous shamans from around the world. In May 2005 Marie received Dream Change foundation’s certification as an Advanced Practitioner of Shamanic Ceremonies which qualifies her as a beginner and advanced shamanic practices workshop facilitator.
In 2004 Marie began adding Gary Craig’s EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to her skill set. EFT is a very powerful and fast acting healing method that is also sometimes known as 'tapping'. In August 2010 she was certified EFT-Cert II by EFT Master Carol Look.
Even after such life altering experiences, Marie had yet to remember who she really is. She knows this because she has since created two life threatening events.
First, in 2007 thru mid 2008 Cellulitis (not to be confused with cellulite, which she also has) set in hard. Cellulitis is a fast moving bacteria disease. It started with a dime sized rash near the lower end of the 16 inch scar on her left leg, the terminus point of the cut opened up to repair the crushed tibia plateau.
At first she did nothing additional either western or alternative for the spot. Then almost overnight it spread to a hand sized oozing mess. Then she used all the alternate method at her disposal to no avail.
Three rounds of antibiotics and twelve months later it subsided and she celebrated her renewed health. A few months later on September 19, 2008 she rolled over in bed and brushed her finger tips across her right breast. The hard spot under the soft skin on the surface jolted her awake.
Several doctor’s visits and tests later a breast surgeon confirmed what Marie already knew. The lump was cancerous, stage 2B to be exact.
Her desire to go home must have been strong for Marie decided to do nothing. Her family and her sweetheart Rosario were devastated by her choice.
The medical community insisted Marie would die without their treatment. She neither believed nor trusted them. After much prodding she relented and had surgery and chemotherapy along with Reiki, Hypnosis, Acupuncture and shamanic healing.
Today once again Marie celebrates health and wholeness. She now better understands her purpose and knows joy is the key. Being joyous in all situations drives her every moment.
